Totaling 105,000 square feet, the Lingle Avenue Elementary School is comprised of a kindergarten center and a separate wing for first through fifth graders. The kindergarten center consists of two, single-story pods, each containing eight classrooms. The first through fifth grade wing consists of classrooms, a gymnasium, and a multi-purpose room. The two buildings share a library, kitchen, nurse’s suite, electrical and mechanical spaces, storage space, and building administration and storage. The mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and special systems design services were provided by Reese Hackman. Plumbing design features such as low flow fixtures and dual flush toilets will contribute to an estimated 40% reduction in water use for the new building. In addition, measures such as a geothermal heating and cooling system are also expected to help lead to a 42% energy usage reduction. The $17.3 million Lingle Avenue Elementary School is LEED Silver Certified.
