Mid-Level Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) Engineer

Our State College, PA office is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Mid-Level Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing) Engineer.
The successful candidate will work directly with clients and other staff to bring projects from conceptual design through the successful completion of construction. Specific duties can include project engineering, construction administration, assistance with fee calculations, and client development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement mechanical (HVAC and plumbing) systems for commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • Create detailed mechanical plans, specifications, and calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems using Revit.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems within overall building design.
  • Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and equipment selection for HVAC systems, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Develop layouts for plumbing systems, including domestic hot water generation plants, water supply, drainage, waste, and vent systems, while adhering to local codes and standards.
  • Attend Job Conferences and perform site observations to ensure compliance with design specifications and work with the construction team to resolve field issues.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot existing HVAC and plumbing systems for retrofits or upgrades, providing innovative solutions to improve performance.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to applicable building codes, standards (ASHRAE, ASPE, NFPA, etc.), and client requirements.
  • Support the project management team with budgeting, cost estimation, and scheduling related to mechanical engineering scope.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC or Plumbing design for commercial and institutional facilities.
  • Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree (ABET-accredited) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit is desired.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • PE Designation is desirable, but not required.
