NATIONAL LUTHERAN COMMUNITIES & SERVICES | WINCHESTER, VA
The Village at Orchard Ridge, a National Lutheran Community, is a nationally accredited, non-profit, continuing care retirement facility located in Winchester, Virginia. This $80 million new construction project was built on a sprawling 132-acre campus with park benches, water fountains, and beautifully manicured grounds. The retirement facility houses more than 300 residents and includes 628,000 square feet of apartments (ranging from 892 to 1,497 square feet) and cottages (ranging from 1,355 to 1,688 square feet). This community also features amenities for residents such as a Wellness Center, Town Center, Community Chapel, and the Orchard Woods Health Center. The apartments, health center and community buildings are conditioned by a geothermal heat pump system comprised of 252 vertical wells that capitalize on the favorable geological conditions to provide year-round heating and cooling. This concept serves the diverse thermal demands of the facility and promotes exceptional environmental stewardship. Reese Hackman provided the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, low voltage, and telecommunications designs for this new CCRC, which combines the community’s neo-traditional design principles with energy-efficient and functional housing.
